I’ve come to the realisation that we don’t have time to build cars for ourselves anymore, so I’m letting go of a car that I was holding onto for myself, and we’re intending to build it exactly as I would have built it for me.
You’ve all been asking for a “driver” and we’ve been asked for a pink Ghia for years now, but we didn’t want to do a stereotypical ‘pink Ghia’ ala Pretty in Pink, or the myriad of copycat cars that followed.
Introducing “Maeve’ a 1962 left hand drive, manual transmission, body and chassis numbers matching car. The vehicle will undergo a full, body-off, bare metal, rotisserie rebuild. Maeve will be media blasted, and all necessary metalwork will be carried out to return the body to its original condition.
The car will undergo several weeks of bodywork to ensure that every panel is as straight (or curved) as it is meant to be. We are meticulous with our bodywork standards, and aim to achieve no more than 2mm body filler in any area of the car.
The paint I’ve chosen for this car is one I have been saving for myself for quite some time. It’s a custom colour by Tamco called Monroe Pink. It’s a very pale pink with mauve undertones, with a slightly metallic finish. Maeve’s paint will be finished with three coats of gloss clear.
Maeve’s pan will be powder coated in grey, with metallic rose powder coated accents, in the samples shown. Ride height will be lowered marginally, but will maintain a safe and comfortable ride height for those worried about potholes. 4 inch narrowed front beam, with four wheel disc brake upgrade.
Wheels will be polished Torq Thrust II, 15 x 5.5” front and rear, for a sleek, sporty, modern look. Maeve will maintain all the original chrome trim, except the bumpers will be Euro style, instead of the US.
The car will receive a brand new, zero mile, 1776cc engine with dual carbs. Engine tins will be powder coated to match. Also included is a brand new ‘Freeway Flyer’ transmission, brand new gauges, steering wheel, wiring harness, and Retrosound stereo with hidden speakers. Headlights will be upgraded to LED.
We are going for a modern sporty interior, with durable, grey distressed leather throughout. Carpet will be grey 100% wool square weave, bound with leather. Headliner will be grey suede or alcantara. Minimal, but very luxurious and stylish, the kind of car you won’t be afraid to drive every day.
This car does not have air conditioning, but it can be added as an optional extra. Air con must be paid for in advance, and will add $5,000 to the build price.
All of our cars are built to meticulous standards, with this car we are striving to have one foot either side of the line between daily driver and show car. Maeve promises to be a one-of-a-kind car which will turn heads wherever she goes.
Deposit required to guarantee ownership at the end of build is $10,000. The deposit is not refundable if you change your mind.
Your deposit locks in the sale price of $60,000. If there are any unforeseen expenses incurred by us during completion, these will not increase the price.
If no deposit is taken during the build process, the final price may be increased.
YOU AGREE TO LET US COMPLETE THE BUILD, PER OUR ORIGINAL BUILD PLAN. YOU WILL NOT HAVE ANY INPUT ON THE DESIGN OF THE CAR.
The expected completion date for this build is November 2026. The vehicle will remain in our care for a period of approximately six months for the purpose of marketing, showing the car, and to iron out any issues that might arise with the car, before handing it off to the owner. Pick up/delivery will be available in May the following year.
Final payment is required 14 days before handoff. Failure to make final payment will forfeit the deposit and render the sale invalid. Payments can be made throughout the build, if the buyer prefers, but are not necessary.
We intend to show this car during the 26/27 show season. Any awards won by the vehicle prior to handover remain the property of MetalMorphosis Customs.
The buyer is responsible for all transport arrangements and costs associated with the delivery. Vehicle will be located in Danville, Alabama, USA. We are able to deliver the vehicle via covered transport to the contiguous US, for an additional fee. When we deliver the vehicle we will be available to explain the car in full detail, and answer any questions you might have about the vehicle. Delivery costs must be paid in advance.
The build progress may be shown on our social medias throughout the build. The car may also feature in mainstream media if opportunities arise throughout the build.
